Why starting your own website in 2k23? There are multiple social platforms offering an easy way to be seen and heard. BookFace, InstaFakeLife, Tik(no-privacy)Tok - you name it. Why spending any time and making an effort on build your own raft in the vast ocean of speedboats, yachts, and cruise ships?
Let’s change attitude a bit…
Website is just another project to plan, deploy, maintain, and learn from the experience of doing. Having this in mind, one can actually test their skills in multiple disciplines:
- Founder (CEO): What do you have to offer?
- Technology (CTO): How should it be implemented technology wise?
- Developer: How to actually implement it?
- DevOps: How to make, build, and deploy it?
- Security (CSO): Is it secure?
- Marketing (CMO): How would you promote/sell it?
- Finance (CFO): Do you have a budget for that?
- Writer: How to convey the message?
It can seem like an exaggeration at first, but a simple blog can present a lot of questions and challenges. Challenges one can never see at day-to-day job for example. Tech guys and girls tend to specialize and narrow their view with each year of professional experience. While it increases salary (usually), narrow specialization robs from you the world around. There are myriads of other things one can do.
But wait, why do I need it? For starters, to check if you like to do something else, aside from programing/compiling/deploying/… Maybe you are an Accountant, just never tried to be one.
Every journey is worthwhile, if you can get something out of it ;)
